Yosemite NDVI in Relation to Rim Fire

To the disbelief of many, fire is a natural part of various ecosystems, including Yosemite National Park’s. Having a Mediterranean ecosystem, close-to-the-ground fires occur, burning away debris along the forrest floor. However, when fires are suppressed for a long enough time, the flames of these fires become too large. As a consequence, fire catches treetop to treetop— known as a crown fire. Below are maps I’ve made displaying Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) in relation to Yosemite’s Rim Fire. These display the amount of vegetation within the park before, right after, and long term after the fire.
